Hey,

It's been way too long. I must apologise. (oh boy, here come the excuses) To be honest I have been having motivational issues about what direction to take the comic. The last two comics have been an attempt to have a more inclusive humour. Even though I am happy with the result and I would have done those comics anyway as part of the fork-handed sub comic series, I'm disappointed because in my mind I wanted to move away from the space panda type of humour. Anyways, I met this girl I studied with on the tube, Bridget, and even though she doesn't read the comic she said I shouldn't do that.

I also have this guy staying on my couch for a while. I was talking to him he suggested the same thing. That is very reassuring and I think I have found the motivation to do what I need to do again.

The other reason I wanted to post today was to wish space panda a happy birthday. Even though it's been a year since we started, I don't feel we did as well as we could. I feel terrible knowing that I have not given it my all. But the one thing I do have is a positive outlook on the future. So with that, my dearest Space Panda, happy birthday! It's been a very enlightening 1st year. We've learned a lot. We've grown a lot. We've improved a lot and we're both better people for it. I would like to wish you and you friends many more amazing adventures for the future.

You may have noticed that the line art was moving in the last comic. I have been meaning to do something like this for a while... combining animation with the comic. I have been wanting to try it out for a while. I haven't seen it on a webcomic before. It's not that well executed... I am sure it can be done better that they way I did it... but executed it was. It's not a new animation technique... infact I got the idea from an ed, edd and eddy interview... so it's not new at all... but I thnk the it's new using it with comics... so you seen it here first folks... well at least I seen it here first...

People sometimes ask why the comic is black and white? The reason for that is political correctness... I don't want to offend any dogs. Incase you were not aware, dogs see in black and white. Unless... they have a genetic mutation which allows them to see in colour... or if they have synaesthesia... which would allow them to smell or hear the colours. Anyways... generally... dogs don't know that there are colours. So I wanted to provide a homogeneous experience for everyone that reads the comic.

I originally intended for the use of colour to show that the guyperson in the comic is using their imagination, reading a book, watching tv... or something... basically to indicate different medium in the comic. I kinda enjoyed colouring the comic though so i might use colour a bit more... but it was a bit more work... so... who knows.

It's been an age since I posted a comic. I am not sure whether I should apoligise or if I should believe I have done nothing wrong. Lots of stuff has happened since the last comic. If there are any people here just for comic, chances are you don't care, maybe you do care, I may be mistaken. Assuming you do care, I have moved, so everything was/is a mess, I attended a wedding just outside Munich, spent a week there and spent 1 additional week in Berlin. Also, I'm South African so I needed to get a visa to go to Germany. I am living in London there is a German embassy here but the earliest appointment I could get was tomorrow. So to get the visa I had to go to Edinburgh. On top of this, I've had 9 to 5:30 work aswell. So it's been a FULL two months.

I've noticed that animators can release animations when they like and people don't mind. So from this day forward Space Panda is officially reclassified as Animation.

I have made some changes to the RSS feed. It now includes the comic in the feed. I figure if I can't keep to schedule the least I can do is take out as many barriers to your reading as I can.

I am thinking of redesigning the space panda character to make him more workable. This is a possibility

My mind works very strangely... assuming it works. Something I've done since I was a kid was try to figure out how things work. By "things" I mean physical things as well as concepts. As an example I would take my watch apart and put it back together, or I try to figure out how light interacts with the eye for sight to happen. All of this at a very young age. For instance on of the theories about sight I had at about 6 or 7 years of age was that if someone looks at an object, the light between that object and your eye was altered... as if something were removed from it... that is to say there was less of something... so because something was removed from that path of light, technically there should be a finite amount of people that could look at a single object. I knew the amount of people would probably be a really large amount... I didn't guess what that number would be.

But what I found my mind doing the other day was that, without my knowledge, my brain was trying to figure out the science of various superstitions I had heard over the years. One of them being something about magpies: "One for sorrow, Two for joy, Three for a girl, Four for a boy, Five for silver, Six for gold, Seven for a secret never to be told." I started thinking, you could chain eight magpies to your body... that way any amount of magpies you see wouldn't affect you. If you did go that route, you might also want to find out if they have to be real magpies, you could get away with using robotic ones.

To change the subject completely... how cute is this?
 

My first named character. SAm is an acronym. It stands for Sexually AMbiguous snail. I don't think I should have spelled it with a capital 'A' in comic. I guess I thought it was a clever name and I wanted everyone to see how clever I am. I am not gonna change it now though... too late. I should have just showed how clever the name is here in the post. SAm is a acronym + in real life it's perfectly acceptable to call both men and wimin Sam... so the name Sam itself is sexually ambiguous... clever huh?

I think I should have put in some kind of "sizzling" sound effect to draw attention to the salt force field... also not going to change it now...

Hey all...

I think I should answer for myself for the obvious lack of comic and commentry. To be honest I was hoping nobody would notice and I would not have to explain myself...

It's a really busy time for me at the moment. Lots of stuff is going on at the same time... and I am only capable of focusing on one thing at a time. One of the things is that I am in the process of moving. Not very far from where I am now... but it's still the ordeal of having to pack and unpack EVERYTHING that you own... I always thought of myself as a bit of a minimalist... trying to own as little as possible. I now I think of myself as a minimalist hoarder... hoarding as much as possible while still trying to be minimalist. Not quite that bad... but I do have A LOT of crap.

The other reason for the lack of updates is that I am going away in July. 04th - 19th .. going Germany for a good friend's wedding. I am pretty excited. But yeah...that does not explain why there is not comic... essentially I needed to get a visa... and the only place I could  do that in time was in Edinburgh... so I was away from home for a while unable to update. Unfortunately that probably also means that there might  not be a comic for that period during July... yeah.... I am a shit host... I know... I will see what I can do.... but as usual no promises though...

Also I get a bout seasonal depression in June. I am pretty sure it's got to do with my birthday being in June... but yeah.. I am trying to forget about that... I almost forgot about it last year but I was reminded 9 hours into it when I arrived at work.

but yeah... I hope to have a comic up for you as soon as possible... once again apologies for the delays... I have my best man working on it.
